Thoughts: After a month of Fasting, and finally tomorrow is 開齋節 Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Close to Raya day, quite a few make-shift-Lemang stalls can be found around the USJ area. One particular stall highly recommended by USJ folks is the one along USJ 4/6B, just in front of 全记茶餐室 Restoran Chuan Kee. I think the following prices:

仁當雞肉 Rendang Ayam rm$7/box

仁當牛肉 Rendang Daging rm$10/box

竹筒飯  Lemang rm$16 - rm$22 (depending on Bamboo length)

The rm$10 "仁當雞 Rendang Ayam" comes with 4 pieces of chicken meat and strong aromatic and spicy rendang flavors (albeit it is oily), perfect for the 竹筒飯 Lemang.
Rice cooking methods using 空心竹筒 bamboo tubes is widespread among various tribes in 東南亞 South East Asia. However, interestingly according to Wikipedia, both the 竹筒飯 Lemang and 仁當 Rendang originated from 印度尼西亚 Indonesia's 米南佳保 Minangkabau (In Minangkabau is called "Lamang"). The 米南傳統料理 Minang traditional food is made from 糯米 glutinous rice, 椰奶 coconut milk and 鹽 salt, cooked inside a 空心的竹筒 hollowed bamboo tube coated with 香蕉葉 banana leaves in order to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo. But whether it is 印尼 Indonesia, 大馬 Malaysia, 文萊 Brunei or 新加坡 Singapore, 竹筒飯 Lemang is a 節日料理 festive cuisine; traditionally eaten to mark the 每日開齋 end of daily fasting during the annual Muslim holidays of 開齋節 Eid-ul-Fitr or Hari Raya Aidilftirti (Festival of Breaking the Fast/Ramadan) and 宰牲節 Eid-ul-Adha or Hari Raya Haji (Feast of the Sacrifice).

仁當 Rendang is also a 米南料理 Minang dish (印尼西蘇門答臘 West Sumatera Indonesia), and often described as a dish with beef (仁當牛肉 Rendang Daging), with seasoned beef slowly cooked and braised in 椰奶 coconut milk with the meat seasoned with 草藥 herbs and 香料 spices mixture. Besides it being one of the 國菜 National dish of 印尼 Indonesia, the cuisine has spread across its 東南亞鄰國 South East Asia neighbors. 仁當牛肉或雞肉 Rendang beef or chicken has become a dish commonly served during 齋月 Ramadan, 開齋節 Raya, and 馬來婚禮 Wedding ceremonies by the 馬來同胞 Malay community in 印度尼西亞 Indonesia, 馬來西亞 Malaysia, 新加坡 Singapore, 文萊 Brunei and even 菲律賓 Philippines. I have also come across many 椰漿飯攤 Nasi Lemak stalls which offers the Rendang cooking to go with the coconut flavored rice (nasi lemak), not to mention the "Chinese cooking influenced" 非清真 non-Halal 仁當豬肉/野豬肉 Pork or Wild Board Rendang!
