Thoughts: PJ SS2's "榴槤鮮生 Durianman" was established in 1998 for more than 24 years and is one of the most popular in SS2; the Durian expert also export its Durian and Durian Products to 香港 Hong Kong, 澳門 Macau, 歐洲 Europe, 澳大利亞 Australia, 英國 England, 沙巴, Sabah, 砂拉越 Sarawak etc. The shop/stall offers from 25 to 30 Durian varieties; from the top grade 黑刺 Black Torn at rm$95/kg to other varieties like 貓山王 Musang King, 紅蝦 Udang Merah, and XO etc at around rm$40/kg. Customer can dine-in or pack for takeaway. Other durian products are 榴槤麻吉 Durian Mochi (貓山王 Musang King or 黑刺 Black Thorn), 榴蓮黑巧克力 Durian Dark chocolate, 榴蓮芝士蛋糕 Durian Burnt Cheese cakes, 榴蓮煎餅 Durian pancake, 榴蓮醬 Durian Paste (probably as fillings for pastries and cakes OR for making the 發酵榴蓮醬 fermented Durian paste called "釀榴蓮 Tempoyak"), and even 貓山王冰皮榴槤月餅 Musang King Durian Moon Cake.

Picked up the rm$15 "貓山王麻吉 Musang King Mochi" which comes in 4 pieces, and a very addictive dessert (But there is also 黑刺麻吉 Black Thorn Mochi at rm$18 per box)!
The price of durians in Malaysia depends on the market's supply and demand, and also very much impacted by the Weather conditions as well as the Season. For example, in 2020, 貓山王 Musang King, that was usually priced at rm$60 per kg, but had dipped as low as rm$20 and rm$35 per kg during the Movement Control Order in Malaysia due to a drop in demand. BUT 貓山王 Musang King prices now has gone back up to rm$50 to rm$65 per kg recently; prices of Durian are at the high side currently but it is expected to dip end of June or July when the Pahang fruiting season begins with more Durian supply to the market. As for "紅蝦 Udang Merah", the average price is from rm$30 to rm$40/kg in recent years.And today's durian choice at 榴槤鮮生 DurianMan is the shops's rm$38/kg "紅蝦 Udang Merah", which is more cheaper than the rm$50/kg "貓山王 Musang King" (but the better Musang King is the rm$68/kg "老樹貓山王 Old Tree Musang King" which is only available at certain times). "紅蝦 Udang Merah" is "Red Prawn Durian" or "Hong Xia (Mandarin) or "Ang Hay (Hokkien). It is a hybrid Durian from 檳城島 Penang Island's 巴力布勞 Balik Pulau, and was officially registered in 1995 as Code D175. The name of "紅蝦 Udang Merah (Red Prawn)" was because the Durian meat has an Orange-Red/Pinkish Color with thick meat, creamy, soft, and very sweet variant; and often said to rival the more expensive Musang King (priced from rm$50/kg today) in this stall. For first timers to Durian, the "紅蝦 Udang Merah (Red Prawn)" offers a good introductory Durian flavor to the beginner as it is also priced moderately compared to other variants. However, the meat of todays "紅蝦 Udang Merah" wasn't that much of a Orange-Red/Pinkish Color feature BUT the shape of the fruit looks to be elongated shapes like an American football which is characteristics of the "紅蝦 Udang Merah"!
I asked the Durian guy on how to choose a good Durian, and here are some hints from him:
There are at least the following Durian destinations in SS2 (maybe more):Color (Golden and intense yellowish)Smell (no smell means not ripe)Hold it to the ear and shake it (sound slightly hollow means good, like the seeds banging around inside the shell)Holes (Durian with holes means too ripe and maybe worms inside)Dark spots (chance of it being rotten and worms inside)Shape of the Durian (usually "oblong shape" means creamier and "round shape" has lesser flesh)Green spikes with brown tips (ripeness is ngam ngam ho)Durians with stalks/stems (not sure why, but always choose durian with the stalk/stem)

SS2/24's 榴槤鮮生 DurianMan is just behind BH Petrol station (short walk from SS2/60's 警察局 Balai Polis SeaPark). The unique 2 floor structure that houses the 24 years+ Durian specialist can be seen from the traffic light T-junction of Jalan SS2/24. This is still probably the largest Durian stall in SS2 and used to be called "Wai's Durian", but later changed its name to "Durian SS2" but I think from 2019, the name was changed again to "榴槤鮮生 DurianMan". Of course, there are several other Durian vendors near the SS2 "Market" or "為食街 Wai Sek Kai" area.
