The name “Tiffin’s” originates from the 金属餐盒容器 "metal tiffin carriers" that some of us grew up storing our meal during our younger days, reminding cooking in the past. The restaurant is decorated with many colorful tier stacks of tiffin carriers and dishes are also served using the Tiffin's.

Tiffin's rm$16.80 "泰式壽喜燒 Tiffin's style Suki-Yaki" is perhaps a "日泰融合 Japanese -Thai fusion" style 壽喜燒 Suki-Yaki", the 海鮮 Seafood, 豬肉 Pork, and 蔬菜 Vegetables in a large bowl of home-made fusion "Suki-Yaki" broth; customer can choose between 粉丝 Glass Noodle or 泰國米粉 Thai Rice Noodle. Seafood is 2 大鮮蝦 large fresh prawns and generous amount of 烏賊 Squid, lots of 大葱 Green Onions, and Cabbage. A little expensive, but kind-of value of money considering the portion, excellent 蛋花湯 egg-based broth, and fresh ingredients. Along the main course, comes 2 metal tiffin carriers with 蘋果沙拉 apple salad and 橘子 oranges.
SS15's Tiffin's opens for lunch from 11am, offering 開胃菜 Appetizers, 沙拉 Salad, 泰式小吃 Thai Bites (like 泰式烤豬肉串 Moo Ping and 泰式烤豬脖子 Grilled Pork Neck). And at least 17 麵套餐 Set Noodles or 飯套餐 Set Rice options with price start at rm$12.80 varieties of 泰式咖哩 Thai Style Curry, 泰式炒飯 Thai Style Fried Rice, and Porky choices. The Set choices also available as 按菜單點菜 Ala-Carte dishes for group dining of 叫菜吃飯; the Captain advice that weekend dinner hours are usually packed with customers.
壽喜燒 Suki-Yaki (すき焼き Sukiyaki) is a 日本冬の食 Japanese winter dish and it is commonly found at 忘年會 Bōnenkai, Japanese year-end parties (very much like the Chinese 收工酒 Company Year-End Dinner before the Chinese New Year). Sukiyaki is prepared and served in a Pot of 鍋物 (なべ物) Nabemono but it is not the same as しゃぶしゃぶ Shabu Shabu (which is 日本火鍋). Japanese Sukiyaki consists of meat (usually thinly 牛肉片 sliced beef) which is slowly cooked or simmered, alongside vegetables (日本香菇 shiitake, 金針菇 enoki mushroom, ネギ negi, 焼き豆腐 yaki tofu, にんじん (日本語叫"人参"=紅蘿蔔) carrot, たまな (玉菜) cabbage etc), and likely Udon, in a shallow iron pot in a mixture of 日本酒 Sake, しょうゆ (醬油) soy sauce, sugar, and 味醂 (みりん) mirin. The simmered beef slices are usually dipped in a small bowl of 生雞蛋 raw, beaten eggs (some say is to cool down the meat) after being cooked in the pot, and then eaten. Based on the Japanese style of Sukiyaki, the Tiffin's style Suki-Yaki is definitely not exactly Japanese style but perhaps 日泰融合壽喜燒 Japanese-Thai fusion Sukiyaki Tiffin's style and although without beef or raw egg; it is definitely worth sampling.Food today: 8 / 10 👍👍👍😋😋😋
