Thoughts: For many years a long long time ago, I have wondered on the streets and back lanes of PJ seapark and the nearby SS2. Every time coming back to this part of PJ brings back lots of good and not too good memories! The residential houses around Seksyen 21 never seem to change that much, and the few blocks of old shops that had been around since the 60s are still present. Ruby theater just opposite the shop lot we lived in had ceased operation for many years. But, I can still vividly remember the crazy crowd in 1971 (or was it 1972) when "The Big Boss (唐山大兄)" starred by 李小龍 Bruce Lee debut in this cinema, movie tickets then were rm$0.80 and a bowl of Wan Ton Mee/Noodle was rm$0.30!
On the same road of Jalan 21/19, the corner kopitiam has been around since the 70s albeit maybe had gone through ownership and name change. Paramount Kopitiam, just a little confusion as the location address is not Paramount Garden (Seksyen 20) but Seapark Garden (Sekyen 21). Arriving here before 7am this morning, I came here to sample the "4am Curry Wan Ton Mee"; Wanton Mee were already sold out and have to settle for mixed yellow noodle and beehoon! For m$6.50, the "Korean-like" Chinese lady/boss/chef delivered a generously large bowl of curry noodle; no cockles, but very well flavored tau fu pok, fish cake slices, fish balls, and minced pork meat and lots of bean sprouts.
Paramount Kopitiam is a typical corner shop lot multi-store Chinese kopitiam with indoor/outdoor seating. I remember for many years the outdoor seating is an open air space with hawker stalls as well as a dry market selling vegetables and meats; the open air is now a covered area which houses the outdoor seating areas and hawker stalls. The hawker stalls include Har Mee/Loh Mee (I may have missed some) maybe all-in a total of 8-10 stalls. And maybe 4 or 5 of the stalls are ready for breakfast as early as 7am.
Parking is obviously easy early in the morning but not so after 8 or 9am but I usually park at the road sides of the nearby residential area just opposite the shop lots!
There are at least still 3 Chinese Kopitiam here (all corner shop lots) in PJ Seksyen 21: this one Paramount Kopitiam and another 2 nearer to the Wet/Dry old seapark market which are 新發記茶室 Restaurant Sum Fatt Kee (which houses the famous 姐妹咖哩麵 "Sisters' Curry Laksa") and 東方茶室飯店 Restaurant Tong Fong (If not mistaken, houses a stall that offers quite a good bowl of Beef Noodle)!
