鴨腿煲仔飯 Duck Confit Rice $26 👍😋
Thoughts: From Bulatan Merdeka, ChoCha is located just at the start of Jalan Petaling. The restaurant sits at the old address 马联旅社 Mah Lian Hotel. From the entrance, one could have thought its just another vacated lot at Jalan Petaling.
Walking into this old shop lot is like a different world. There is a sense of nostalgia with all decorations and tranquility of the greens inside. It has that "old charm" and yet "clean" feeling about everything.
Food price is around $20 - $50++, including the ambiance its worth the price! The upper section only opens in the evenings after 5pm (that is worth another visit to see the view from the 2nd floor).
My dish was, as I understand likely a French fusion Duck Confit Rice 法式鴨腿煲仔飯. It comes with a perfectly boild egg (with the egg yoke not overly cooked), the duck meat was not too bad, and a generous amount of vegetables (with a lot of sour source), maybe it is French Style! don't know!
The place is Halal (I think), at least the food. The workers seems to be Malay Origin and there is at least a young Malay couple dining next to my table! But ChoCha do serve wine and beer, I was introduced a Combodian Beer (new) called "Brewlander" 330ml at around 30++, perhaps worth a try next round here!
It is interesting to be able to find something like this in Petaling Street, from what seems an unassuming rundown old building; a place to relax and unwind with local and fusion foods.
The nearest public transport is the Maharajalela MRT Station (2-3 minutes walk) while Pasar Seni LRT Station is 6-8 minutes walk! There are both DBKL Paid Parking and Private Parking near the restaurant!
Review: 6 / 10 👍😋
Opening hours: 11:00 am - 11:00 pm
