22.02.2017 Bahrain visit
@ Juffair, Manama, Kingdomof Bahrain
Thoughts: Today is Wednesday, and an off day which will be replaced on Saturday. Decided to go for a photo walk with my phone (did not bring other cameras). Initially thought of just 15-30 minutes walk but ended around almost 3 hours with around 2 hours maybe inside the Al Fateh Grand Mosque.
First picture looks more like KL, the rain came for a week until the day I landed. That created all the pool of water everywhere, as drainage system is lacking, the pool of water will take sometime to evaporate or cleaned up. But construction also seems everywhere in Juffair. Juffair is a suburban township of Manama (Capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain). Some parts of the land are from reclaimed sea. This place has lots of apartments and was told mostly meant for international visitors working here. Anyway 50% or more of the million Bahrain population are foreigners!
Anyway, I ended up in a compound of Al Fateh Mosque. The Al-Fateh Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world, encompassing 6,500 square meters and having the capacity to accommodate over 7,000 worshippers at a time. Yes, i was inside the mosque and it is huge. Every architectural element of the mosque are imported, was told marble from Italy and others can't remember! The compound also hosts the National Library. The fiber glass dome from the inside is really very beautiful.
