Thoughts: I just found out that this movie was really just a video game being translated into a movie! LOL! and played on playstations or nintendos alike! Just now only I saw a few such similar titles in my edge 7's google play Apps.
The games are set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars (group of religious believers), who desire peace through control. So, very simple as the Templers (religious people) suppose to be the good guys but are now the bad guys. And the Assassins are suppose to be the gad buys are now the good guys!
The movie plot is about searching for the Apple of Eden, created by an ancient civilization, which contains the genetic code for free will, the templers wanted it in order to put an end to the disease that is violence by subjugating the human race, a noble idea but what the templer really wanted was the control of the Apple of Eden. In this search, Callum played by Micheal Fassbender, the descendant of the Assassins of the 15th century is used by the current day templers to go back in time via an experimental time machine to relive his ancestors lifes in order to search and retrieve for the Apple of Eden.
Having retrieved the Apple, the templers followers were celebrating the artifacts retrieval in the templer sanctuary. Callum sneaks behind the leader, kills him to retrieve the Apple of Eden again and vowing once again to protect it.
The movie has many special effects, as it has to merge scenes of Callum's adventures in the past with current times where he is strapped on the time machine. Lot of running, climbing, jumping across buildings and fighting scenes in the old walled city of the island of Malta.
The movie was filmed in Pinewood Studios in England as well as Spain (Seville, Almeria) and Malta (Valletta). Valletta is the Capital city of the Island Republic of Malta which is located south of Italy. The walled city of Valletta was established in the 1500s by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. where the filming was done. The filming shows many of the narrow streets, the churches, historical sites, and the fortress city itself from birds eye view, clearly an enchanted place for any travelers. It is said to be “a city by gentleman for gentleman”.
