01.01.2017 KL International New Year Run 2017

Thoughts: Arrived in KL around 6am and parked our car at China Town to walk to Merdeka Square, we thought we were late. The 15 minutes walk from where we "legally parked" our car, along the roads leading to Dataran Merdeka were all parked with cars illegally on yellow line, sometimes i really wonder what is legal or illegal on Malaysian roads! But bately 6am at Merdeka Square, it was a long wait! .. so we waited and waited until 7:30am where the 10km runners were send off. Our 5km was 7:40am, I was quite eager to do some "jogging" as I still feel the pain on the knee. But first step when I began to run, really sprain the knee side quite seriously. I thought I give up and ask my son to continue the race!
Before the race began, he was saying it would be nice to finish the race within the time limit and begin the year with a race medal. So, I bit my teeth and did paced walking to try to finish the 5km. Certainly not an easy task to walk in pain for 5km, LOL! I think when we almost reached, my son told me he saw a count down timer to the ending of the time limit, and so we cross the finish line at 8:38am! I guess we made it just before the 60 minutes time check as we were marked on our shirt's race number and given a medal on the finish line.
What a cool way to start the year! despite being a one legged frog! But i tell myself that i am not trying to be 16 years younger, and i know the realities of being 52. Nevertheless, i still wish to continue to try new things within my limitations in 2017.
