Thoughts: I know of a Swensen's in Damansara SS22's Atria Mall, it was a place to be for Ice Cream in a Shopping Mall, at that time! Indeed, Swensens's came to Singapore in 1979 and shortly takes its presence in the PJ Mall after that offering comfortable and cozy place for their ice cream as well as western dishes. But the company was the brainchild of Earle Swensen in 1949 in San Francisco offering home-made ice creams. With over 200+ outlets across the US, middle-east, and Asia, and South America; it has become a house-hold name to many who likes ice cream.
The 2 ice cream variants sampled were definitely very good. The "Rocks" was inspired by the Rocks located at Alcatraz Island and one of the most notable resident of this prison island was the infamous Al Capne; the "Rocks" ice cream comes in a banana boat sitting on a simulated fog (nitrogen ice cubes). Sitting above the "fog" was Swensen's 3 signature ice cream flavors: Nutty Hazel, Cookies "N" Cream, and Rocky Road. The boat was also garnished with marshmallow sauce, hot caramel, cocoa pops, a cheery and waffle biscuits from Italy. A great combination!
Next, Banana Madness Waffles comes with a golden toast waffle (hot when delivered), with a scoop of strawberry ice cream and banana slices, equally good.
I can't remember the last time having ice cream at Swensen's but it left with childhood memories of Atria Mall (as there only 3 Malls then in PJ, Atria, Jaya Supermaket, and Asia Jaya). After so many, Swensen still have a presence in Klang Valley shows that it must be doing something right with their ice cream.
