招牌上海炒麵 Shanghai Fried Noodle $14.90 👍👍😋😋
& 上海烝水餃 Shanghai Steamed Dumpling (Sui Jiao) $9.80 👍😋
Highlights: Non-Halal, Paid Parking
Cuisine: Shanghai
Thoughts: The Shanghai fried noodle was surprisingly a tastier dish than I tought when ordering it. A bit oily but tasty, noodle was perfectly done with bean sprouts, green onions, sliced pork meat, and a couple of big prawns; with a touch of sweetness to it. It is quite a popular dish in Hong Kong as well where some restaurants have adapted it to local taste and replace the noodle with thicker udon.
As for the steamed dumpling (sui jiao), I prefer Esquire Kitchen's 锅贴 Guotie (the fried version) which goes well with the vineger soay sauce sliced ginger and their home-made chili sauce!
The history of Esquire Kitchen is a long one, started in the 70s with few neighourhood cooks sharing home recipes from shanghai. And after over 40+ years, have secured as a goto place for Shanghainese cooking for many locals here in the Klang Valley.
Review: 7 / 10 👍👍😋😋
