Food Thoughts: Restoran Bei Ping should be a must try if you want to skip pork and wish for some Beijing cuisine which is also Halal. I think one of the must order is the Bei Ping duck (sounds like Peking duck) which is prepared in 2 ways; one which is wrapped with lettuce and another "mandarin pancake" (poppiah skin).
Bei Ping or 北平 meanes "Northern Peace" in Mandarin, it was the former name of Peking or Beijing. Many older chinese still refer to Beijing as Bei Ping. Restoran Bei Ping is owned and operated by a Beijing-Malaysian couple where the chef hails from Beijing and wife a local Malaysian. Both the duck and the sweet bean leaf was excellent; a little mistake ordering the char keow teow and dumpling. Anyway, the restoran offers a good choice in their menu; I should think will be back for another visit soon to try their other dishes.
