Food Thoughts: Today's durian choice for Cendol was 红虾榴莲 Udang Merah ($23 for small) and 甘榜榴莲 Durian Kampung ($13 for small). The price of Durian Cendol depends on the durian stock they have available in stock at the store. Only few stalls here open during noon today (Friday), one of the is the Durian Cendol and Pasembor Rojak; no queues needed. Apparently, you may have to queue-up for your bowl of Durian Cendol if you come in the evening. For $23, you get 2 to 3 whole piece of Udang Merah Durian (including the seeds) in your bowl with Cendol. The combination of the Durian, green cendol, shaved ice, creamy corn, and santan comes together nicely in a hot afternoon as dessert. Very interesting and worth the visit.
Medan Selera Delima is located at Section 24, Shah Alam; use "Waze" to get there as the location is tucked deep inside the Shah Alam Industrial area. Ample parking available at lunch time today.
There are two durian seasons in Malaysia, the first one in July and the second in November. In April this year, a kilogram of 猫山王 Musang King was at least RM60-$70; then in September, the price went as high as RM90 or beyond $100-$120 per kg. The reason for such fluctuation is due to the supply and demand situation. The demands for durians throughout the year remained sky-high while the farmers could not keep up the supply in the July-September period. We all know that Malaysia has been exporting our beloved fruit king to China in container-loads and farmers prefer exporting to China as they can fetch as much as 3 times the revenue compared to selling their harvest locally.
Review: 7 / 10 👍👍😋😋
