Thoughts: I would say that Rojak and Pasembur is the same thing. However, there is a difference if you are in Penang. If you order a bowl of Rojak in Penang, you will be given a bowl of cut fruits covered in a black sauce (虾糕 prawn sauce); It is mainly a mix of 豆腐 tofu, 杨桃 starfruits, 生芒果 raw mangoes, 豆薯 jicama, 黄瓜 cucumbers and 菠萝 pineapples. In KL, the above concoction of mixed vegetables and fruits with a smelly dark prawn sauce is called "Penang Rojak" or "Rojak Buah"!
However, in Penang and some northern states when ordering a bowl of Pasembur does seem to look like the Rojak in KL where it comes the dish comes with with 炸豆腐 fried tofu, 豆芽 bean sprouts, 炸油饼 kue curur, 马铃薯 potatoes, maybe 煮蛋块 boiled egg poured over with 花生酱 "orange" gravy. The concoction for KL Rojak is similar but usually seems without patato but with lots of cucumber slices and options for Squid.
I am not sure what deserver to be good pasembur but there is something not too right about this one.
Review: 5 / 10 😐😐
