Food Thoughts: Tucked-away from the Shah Alam's Persiaran Jubli Perak trunk road in Seksyen 20, in-front of Suri Puteri Service Apartments at the corner of a row of single-storey shop lots is this nasi lemak place that only offers breakfast and dinner!
I guess when you are an early bird (I mean around 7am) on a weekday, you don't have to endure the queue for your nasi lemak. But soon after I almost finished my plate, many more customers start coming in to the restaurant.
A simple plate/pack of nasi lemak (with just the egg slice, anchovies, cucumber, sambal, and coconut rice) is $2, add the price goes up for the add-ons. The add-ons are a little pricy, +$1 for a fried egg, +$3 for cockles! +$3.50 to $4 for squid/chicken/beef. The coconut rice is very nice especially taken when it is steamy/warm with the slightly sweet sambal.
Overall, it is a good breakfast, and pleasantly surprise to eat breakfast in a "Malay Kampung-like" setting (if you ignore the view of the apartment and single-storey houses next to it, in the middle of Shah Alam; where a short distance brings you to the ever busy congested roundaround of Persiaran Jubli Perak (Panasonic Factory site).
Forget the ambience and air-conditioning of a cafe, Pak Ayob presents a tidy, clean, and no fuss/no nonsense setting, pick your food, get your cuttlery, and order your drinks while paying at the cashier, and find a table to enjoy the nasi lemak where your drinks will come in no time. Parking is definitely easy early in the morning.
