There are at least 2 Cafés at this part of Bandar Puteri (near Puteri Mart) worth visiting:
Starman Coffee @ 16, Jalan Puteri 5/16
Sipping Corner Cafe, Puchong @ 78G, Jalan Puteri 5/5
The 2 Cafés are less than 100m apart and both starts offering a good cup of Coffee at around 9am daily. "Starman Coffee" started business around 4 years ago in December 2019, located as a single shop lot among the unassuming light industrial shop lots in Bandar Puteri Puchong (near Puteri Mart).
If you are in need of cuppa and a chill space in Puchong area, either "Starman" or "Sipping Corner" are both highly recommended. Parking maybe somewhat challenging after 9am but many people park on side roads and better yet there should be ample parking at Puteri Mart (free parking) with maybe a 3-5 minutes walking time to both the Cafés!But the story of "Americano" is somewhat interesting! The story goes, according to many sources including Dr Lee Jollifee (Professor of Journalism at Drake University as well as a full-time freelancer, newspaper columnist, and magazine restaurant reviewer in the 1980s), that soldiers stationed in Italy during WWII were looking for a way to make the strong espresso they found there taste more like the milder version of the black coffee they were used to back Home in the United States. Soon, when the soldiers returned home they brought the "Americano" (said to be a milder version of the "Caffè Lungo"), back with them to the States. It is therefore the US military who were the major reason Americanos became a widely accepted coffee drink. In a New York Times blog on the subject of Marines and coffee, they state that by the time WWII came around the US servicemen were drinking so much coffee that the Army Quartermaster Corps would go so far as to grind, package and ship coffee overseas just so the military would have enough to go around. Soldiers were used to the drip coffee they would drink at home, so when they encountered coffee made in a different way, it was sometimes unenjoyable and too bitter for them. This is where the Americano was born. Adding water to the espresso the soldiers came across in Italy was the easiest way they found to make the coffee feel more like home. The Americano soon became an increasingly popular drink both across Europe and in the United States.
That is perhaps why Coffee experts say that they called a “Long Black” when the espresso comes after the water during the preparation process. It's called an “Americano” when the water comes after the espresso. No idea what that means!
