Thoughts: Padang food or Minang food is the cuisine of the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra, Indonesia. But it is not just popular in parts of Indonesia but also Malaysia and Singapore, I did have the opportunitey to savor some Padang food (halal without pork) at several locations in Shah Alam! Because most Minangkabau people are Muslims, Minangkabau cuisine follows halal dietary law rigorously. Most of its protein is taken from beef, water buffalo, goat, lamb, mutton, and poultry and fish. Minangkabau people are known for their fondness of cattle meat products including offal. Almost all the parts of a cattle are used in Minangkabau dishes.
Today's find is an interestingly one, in a Chinese Kopitiam in SS2; offering Manangkabau Wild Board Nasi Lemak! at rm$8 which is a it expensive breakfast but quite a generous amount of wild boar meaty cubes all flavored with the strong Rendang (but can't really tell its what style of Rendang!). On the side are typical sambal, boiled egg, nuts, cucumber and the warm coconut rice; a very filling breakfast on a Sunday Morning, and drizzling today in PJ.
The stall in SS2 Rising Kopitiam offers Minangkabau Rendang for Chicken, Beef, as well as Pork or Wild Boar or Pork with prices from rm$7.50 to rm$8.50!
