Thoughts: "Congee House" have two branches and 8 years of experience in Kuching specializes in a variety of congee and mince. . The base of the porridge is said to be of high-quality pork bone soup, which is cooked into porridge the next day. The lean meat and century egg congee sampled today was good. However, perhaps their more expensive fish, pig innards, scallop and abalone porridge also worth sampling. Besides the original locations in Kuching, the Congee House also have one in Seremban and this one in Taman Sungai Besi in KL.
Not too sure the Porridge cooking style is Chowzhou or Hakka, but rather looks like familiar Cantonese style. Besides Porridge, the shop also offers a variety of noodles and the Claypot Loh Si Fun sampled today was equally very good, not too salty or starchy, nice! Every other recipe of food pictures adorning on 2 sides of the walls are Hakka cooking recipes. Of course I cannot miss the opportunity of samplong the 算盤子 Hakka abacus, highly recommended as well!
The shop opens as early as 7am, with noodles and porridge available until 3pm. And hakka recipes with rice will be available for dinner as well until 10pm. Unfortunately, parking is super challenging at least during lunch hours, early morning and evening hours parking are probably easier.
