The clear soup is extremely umami, flavorful sweetness boiled with duck and pork. 南來鴨肉粿條湯 LUM LAI Duck Meat Koay Teow Th'ng is Penangites local favorite spot nestled within the 七條路小販中心 (7-Road-Precinct or "Chit Tiau Lor") Cecil Street Food Court in Georgetown, Penang.
Ordered the standard bowl of rm$6.50 "鴨肉粿条湯 Duck meat Kway Teow Teng", arriving to the market at about 8:30am, there is already a long queue to the famous 粿条湯 Kway Tewo Teng (KTT) stall. AND After 15 minutes of queuing and another 10 minutes of waiting time, the standard bowl of KTT arrived to the table. The bowl comes with slices of 豬肉絲 shredded pork meat as well as 鴨肉 duck meat, 魚餅 fish cakes, 魚丸 fish balls and 鴨血塊 duck’s blood cubes. It is garnished with 青蔥 spring onions and topped with condiment of freshly 醬油辣椒片 sliced chili in soy sauce. AND best ending with a hot cup of rm$2.20 杏仁茶 Almond Tea!
七條路小販中心 Cecil Street market is known to be one of the biggest food courts in 檳城喬治市 George Town, Penang. The official name of this market is called Cecil Street Market, but Penangites here know it better as the 7th Street Market (which translates to 七条路巴刹 in Chinese or Pasar Jalan Tujuh in Malay or Chit Tiau Lor in Hokkien). And it is indeed exactly seven streets away from the Komtar Tower with the first street being 頭條路 Magazine Road. The market houses two parts: on one side is where patrons can find everyday goods like fresh food, clothing, and household items; and on the other side, it’s entirely a food court; and quite a big food court with extensive choices of Penang hawker foods.
