Cuisine: Craft Beers
Parking: Private Parking
Thoughts: To get to Ales & Lagers, park in-doors at the basement of Publika at the BLUE zone and take lift to the 1st floor at Block D5. The entrance from the bridge brings you directly to Ales & Lagers, but look for a Print Shop called "TTP.my Print + Cafe"; Ales & Lagers share the same shop lot with a Print shop. Simply said, when you find the Lot no D5.G4.3, just walk in.
Don't expect too much ambiance here, Ales & Lagers offers 3 craft beer on taps and I think 20+ craft beers choices. Interestingly, the tap rm$28 craft beer was served with a plastic disposable cup, I would have preferred the American Stone Ripper even from a can instead of a plastic cup. Still, wasn't too impressed with the "Stone Ripper". In Malaysia, we are definitely drinking very very very expensive American craft beer, a quick web search shows that the same volume of the Stone Ripper in America costs only USD$2.50 (rm$10) where its a whooping rm$28 here!!!
The 2nd one, went for the "Australian Hawkers IPA" at 6.5%ABV; interestingly, the brewery is named after the earliest Lebanese immigrants in Australia, who were called hawkers! The Melbourne-based brewery have received multiple international awards recently. I definitely liked it best among the 3 craft beer sampled today. Got a bit of a kick of the Hawkers IPA at 6.5%, fruity, good color and very easy drinking craft beer.
The final one before hitting the road was a Germany "Crew Republic Brewery"s Indian Pale-Ale called "Drunken Sailor" with a creamy, fruity, quite sweet, and malty beer. A good ending of my craft beer session today!
Parking at Publika is possible but at rm$3 for the 1st hour, with 2nd and 3rd hour rm$2/hour. A 3 hour stint here with food and beer will be at least rm$7! The easiest route to arrive here from PJ is via NKVE or the SPRINT highway, expect a lot of traffic at peak hours.
