Thoughts: Both Jibby & Co (Empire Subang) and Jibby Chow (SS15 Courtyard), and with presently a total 5 outlets in the Klang Valley; they are part of the Serai Group. It's a family business started in 1990s, initially offering Northern and Thai Cuisines but later exploring contemporary fusion and stir-fry inspired by Thai and Chinese Cuisines.
The decorations of Jibby Chow is above the other restaurants in SS15 Courtyard, classy with porcelain tiles and contemporary interior layout, nevertheless the air-conditioned piping ducts above the dining areas were "super noisy". And I am not sure there was any aroma from fiery woks of their kitchen teasing anyone in the dining areas as advertised!
In such a restaurant with a higher price tag on every item in the menu, there are certainly expectations. Food sampled were all at best, average in taste; although presentations of food scores higher! 1st, couldn't find "enough" duck meat in the Mantao as there were so much chili inside the Mantao; perhaps an unnecessary fusion of a Chinese dish. 2nd, the highly recommended crab fried rice was ok but also quite ungenerous on crab meats plus a little too oily for my liking. Lastly, the 5 spice crispy chicken looks good but the cuts pieces were too big, meat wasn't tender, came with an interesting combination of sour and chili sauce (probably could have been better with plum sweet & sour sauce). An overall disappointment of the food sampled as all are highly recommended dishes by the waiter. Anyway, the restaurant was almost empty at time of visit on a weeknight. Based on the "Halal Chinese dishes" sampled, it wasn't up to expectations but maybe Chinese dishes aren't really their cup to tea; that's just my personal opinion!
