Thoughts: It is generally rm$40+ to maybe rm$50/$60 per person for a Hot Pot meal at 海底撈 Haidilao, expensive compared to other Steamboat or all you can eat BBQ dinings in town. AND despite the price, regulars to Hai Di Lao will know that waiting time is usually 1-2 hours; that is why the restaurant even provide a large waiting area with table, chairs, and even free flow snacks. In fact, in China the Chain even can get a 按摩 massage, 美甲 manicure, 擦鞋服務 shoe shining service and more. Some say that Malaysia's Hai Di Lao can still be considered at an affordable price-point, which is something around maybe rm$200 for 4-pax (rm$50+ per person) BUT a similar meal for one person in Hai Di Lao Singapore is around SGD$40+ or rm$120+ per person!

The founder of Haidilao, 張勇 Mr Zhang Yong (a high school drop-out), who once worked even as a factory welder for less than rm$100 a day when he was 19, the self-made Billionaire once topped Forbes’ 2019 Singapore Rich List with a net worth of US$13.8 billion (Singapore's richest Tycoon before Covid-19). Despite suspending or closing down 300 Hot Pot locations in China in recent years due to the Pandemic, there's no denying that the Hai Di Lao tale is an extraordinary success story. 張勇 Mr Zhang Yong open his first little hotpot shop (a small booth with 4 tables) in 四川簡陽 Sichuan, China in 1994 (28 years ago)! AND despite suspending or closing down 300+ locations, the HOtPOt chain today still have over 1300 locations in China, Hong Kong and Taiwn and around 100 locations outside of China with over 60,000 employees! Now, a Singapore Citizen, one of the secrets of 張勇 Mr Zhang Yong's success in Haidilao is how he redefined "Good Service" in the F&B business. AND that means taking Customer Service to another level of Extreme; for example, ladies who are in queue for a vacant table can even get a free manicure while waiting. Customers who are eating alone will have a giant fluffy bear seating across the table to keep him or her company! The attentiveness and smiling faces of every employee makes every customer's dining-in a personal experience.
There are 14 Haidilao outlets in Malaysia (7 in Klang Valley, 2 in JB, 1 in Melaka, 1 in Ipoh, and 3 in Penang). AND the first Haidilao outlet in Malaysia opened in March 2019 in Sunway Pyramid. AND Haidilao set foot in PJ's 1Utama somewhere in July or August 2019 near AEON Supermarket on the Ground Floor. Today, arriving here at 11:30am (around 30min after its opening time at 11am), the restaurant was already full house but the waiting area wasn't crowded with customers. A large plastic trolley with loads of junk food bites were available at the waiting area, and today's waiting time was just about 10 minutes. Service was definitely very good, food choices was at a premium price (I think rm$15 to rm$25+), food arrived was fresh but not extraordinary for the price. Maybe 8-9 choices of hot pot soup base were available, such as Sichuan Spicy Hot Pot, Mushroom Soup Hot Pot, 蕃茄湯 Tomato Soup Hot Pot, 三鮮 Three Delicacy Soup Hot Pot etc. The 三鮮 Soup based was the best, I think!
