Thoughts: IPPUDO Pavilion KL was the first to open in February 2013; but today you can find the famous Ramen F&B in The Gardens Mall, Sunway Pyramid, Bangsar Shopping Centre, Penang Gurney Plaza, and Quensbay mall.
Virtually every region in Japan has its own Ramen style or speciality and one of the most popular Ramen type is a "thin and straight Ramen variant" originated from food stands in 博多 Hakata, a district in 福冈 Fukuoka and famously called "博多拉面 Hakata Ramen". This type of Hakata Ramen is served in 一风堂 Ippudo. Ippudo features all together 5 types of Ramen: 招牌白丸元味 Shiromaru Motoaji (汤味道比较淡), 赤丸新味 Akamaru (汤味道比较辣), and からか Spicy Karaka (应该是最辣 Tonkotsu broth w/spicy Miso). Another 2 are 一风堂黑 Ippudo Kuro (thick Ramen noodle) and 芳醇醬油 Hojun Shoyu (Chicken broth w/Shoyu broth). Besides Ramen, the restaurant also offers other dishes and those that strike an interest for future visits are 黃瓜沙拉 Goma Q (Japanese Cucumber Salad), 包子 variety of Buns, 生魚片 Sashimi, 炸玉米 Fried young Corn, 日本餃子 Japanese Gyoza and 壽司蛋捲 Dashimaki Egg Roll!
An internet article suggested that Ippudo Ramen Malaysia uses local pork bones (include pork head) for their broth which is cooked locally, but the noodles are IMPORTED from Ippudo Singapore. Originally, was aiming to sample the Shiromaru Motoaji but settled for Shiormaru Special which was a little salty for me; pork meat, onsen egg, and noodles were very good. Ended dinner with the Pork bun which is equally a good choice. The history of Ippudo starts in 1985, 一风堂 Ippudo started in Japan's 福冈 Fukuoka, on the Northern shores of 日本九州 Japan's Kyushu Island. The founder, 老板河原成美 Shigemi Kawahara is a native Fukuokan, in 1979 he opened his first restaurant also with an artistic name called 风雨过后 (after the rain). But in 1985, when the first Ippudo opened and subsequently the restaurant rise to fame from its appearance successfully in exhibitions and TV cooking competitions. In 2000, Ippudo collaborated with Seven Eleven and Nissin Foods to product a cup noodle!
In 2008, Ippudo opened its first overseas branch in the City of new York. The Ramen Restaurant Chain not only have over 65 stores in Japan, and globally other than in Malaysia, Ippudo can be found in New York, Paris, London, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, South Korea, Vietnam, Mynamar and Cities in China.
