Thoughts: Originated in the 60s and 70s, this curiously named dish was said to come from when a hawker offered an Englishman "Sila Makan Roti, John!" or in english "Please eat this bread, mr John" and hence the name "Roti John". This dish is easy found in Markets during the Ramadhan month or road side burger stalls. Good to also find Roti John as one of the items in the "Bun series" offered by Old Town White Coffee (only offered in selected outlets) and besides Roti John, there are Chicken meatloaf and cheese, BBQ chicken and black pepper chicken! Interesting, Roti John is a street food originated in Singapore (Wikipedia) but however is popular street food in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia as well.
The Malaysian style burger comes with larger than normal sausage bun (more like a soft baguette), in-side the bun was either minced mutton or was it beef, tomato slices, onions and lots of eggs plus lots of pepper and tomato sauce! Cannot say it isn't good, but a very Malaysian style burger dish and a filling one for breakfast.
Old Town White Coffee at PJ Jaya One can be prominently noticeable from Jalan University. For breakfast, it is advisable to park across the street along Jalan 17/1A in front of the low cost flats. In fact, parking along this road is free (FOC) all day long. (just beware of Pasar Malam on Tuesdays and Pasar Pagi on Thursdays!). The outdoor seating along the walkway of the Jaya One Old Town White Coffee has a good view of Jalan University and the entrance to Jaya One. Besides Old Town White Coffee, there are several kopitiams that opens early in Jaya One, that includes One chinese economy mee/behoon, and 3 or 4 Mamak/Indian/Malay eateries!
