咖喱面 Curry Mee rm$6 👍👍😋😋
烧肉 Roasted Pork rm$7 👍😋
Budget: MYR$10 below
Cuisine: Chinese
Parking: "Free" SS13 3K Sports Complex (2 minutes walk)
Thoughts: Driving along Jalan Kewajipan from towards USJ 1 from SS 12/13/14/15, you can hardly missed this corner kopitiam which is normally crowded from early morning till afternoon 1-2pm. The kopitiam is located at the ground floor of one of the low cost flats in SS13.
I was here in on May 6 around 3pm but the famous Curry Noodle stall already closed. (I was told it usually start packing up around 1:30pm). There are 3 stalls in 金泉茶室 Kedai Kopi Kum Chuan, one which sells pork ball noodle, kolo mee etc, while another one offers roasted items (roasted pork/charsiew/chicken) and the main attraction is the much talked about SS13 curry mee.
Highly recommended to also order "siew yoke" or roasted pork (rm$7/portion) which I think good for 2 person. Most customer come here for the curry mee at rm$6 for regular (+rm$1 for up-size), the same stall also offers wan ton mee and mee soup. The curry mee comes with char siew slice, tau fu pok, long beans, and fresh big cockles. The soup/broth is creamy, quite thick, sweet and only slightly spicy, not salty at all to my liking. Definitely one local comfort food that is worth returning back for more.
As far as parking, I find it usually easy to find free proper parking in front of the SS13 3K Sports Complex which is just 1-2 minutes walk from Kum Chuan. Most people seems to just park illegal on road shoulders along SS13/1A.
Food: 7 / 10 👍👍😋😋
