The "考伯沙拉 Cobb Salad" can be served as a 主菜 main course. It is an 美式花園沙拉 American garden salad typically made with 切碎的沙拉蔬菜 chopped salad greens (or Romaine lettuce), 番茄 Tomato, 培根 Bacon, 雞胸肉 Chicken breast, 水煮蛋 hard-boiled Eggs, 酪梨 Avocado, 細香蔥 Chives, 藍起司 Blue Cheese (or 切達起司 Cheddar or 蒙特利傑克起司 Monterey Jack, or 或完全不加起司 no cheese at all) and 紅酒醋汁 red wine vinaigrette. Various stories recount how the salad was invented. One says that it came about in 1937 at the 好萊塢布朗德比餐廳 Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant, where it became a signature dish. It is named after the restaurant's owner, 羅伯特·霍華德·科布科布 Robert Howard Cobb. The legend is that 科布先生 Mr Cobb had not eaten until near midnight, and so he mixed together leftovers he found in the kitchen, along with some bacon cooked by the line cook, and tossed it with their 法式沙拉醬 French dressing!
