金刚狼 Logan (Marvels) $9.50
Thoughts: The Marvel series of Logan, the Marvel comic character Wolverine's finale movie, I think! The movie started with the ageing Wolverine overlooking a grave and then the ending with his "DNA created daughter" Laura standing over Wolverine's own grave; yes, Wolverine dies in this movie! The Wolverine series started in 2013 and final ending its last screening 2017! or is it? Or maybe next one is "Return of the Wolverine!", LOL!
The Marvel and DC series, as well as those Hong Kong comics, were my favorite haunts at the book shop at S.E.A. park area when we lived in the shops there for few years until moving to SS2 at 8 or 9 (I think). I think I was never really interested in them all, it was just fun picking up one to look at a few pages before being chased away by the bookstore owner.
When DC comics, as I remembered, first featured "Superman" in the movies with the late "Christopher Reeve" as the Superman in the Movies in 1978 (I was in Form 1 then), for a long time it was Superman and Batman movies. But late few years, the Marvel comics played on screens with recent computer technologies and special effects make them bigger and better, and more grand, I suppose!
This one "Logan"!, as violent as this movie can be will all the blood on the screen, it was a sad Ageing Wolverine with seemingly no hope and nothing to look forward to in his life. He was trying very hard to stay alive as a limousine taxi driver to save enough money to buy a boat to take Professor Charles Xavier to safety and to live the rest of their life in solidarity. The Professor was suffering from some kind of disease resulting him unable to control his telepathic abilities.
But the movie really centers around Logan's DNA daughter, and the setting was in the year 2029, while mutants were already a thing of the past at the brink of extinction. Logan found his "Genetically created daughter" called Laura from his DNA by "Transigen", young children were created with Mutant DNA to be used as weapons but the children escaped.
From there, it was Laura, Logan, and Xavier trying to escape from "Transigen". The Professor died along the way! and so as the Ageing Logan! He managed to save some of the mutant children.
A sad tale about very powerful and strong mutant with strong motivations in their healthier and younger days but at life ending moments, both lacked the very convictions they used to have. Without a sense of direction and motivation, he was being chased and beaten up by new generations of genetically enhanced humans!
It just comes to show that no matter how smart you are (exemplified by the Professor) and how powerful & strong you are (Logan), time will soon past and nothing really matters at the end.
