亞參叻沙 Asam Laksa originated in the 馬來西亞沿海漁村 coastal fishing communities of Malaysia, where families would 避免浪費剩下的魚肉 toss scrap fish and 羅望子 tamarind into a 放入酸味麵條湯中 sour noodle soup to avoid waste. Over time, this evolved into a signature 娘惹 Nyonya (土生華人 Peranakan) dish and is now globally synonymous with the Malaysian island of Penang.
