Thoughts: Imagine that its just toast, egg, ham, and rotini (通粉); just ask perhaps any Hong Kong people and they will know about this place. It is really that famous even when I stumbled upon it 15 years ago and it was the same today, packed with locals and tourist looking forward to have a taste of this famous shop.
The "Australia Diary Company" 澳洲牛奶公司 really is just another "Char Chan Teng" 茶餐厅 in Jordan, Hong Kong, specialising in steamed milk pudding, scrambled eggs, toast and custard dishes. But it has been so famous that every day people queue up to get in for a taste of its creations since the 1970s by the Tang family 鄧家族 (one of the oldest surviving "Char Chan Teng" for almost 50 years now). Despite being that famous, it remain itself as a single location in Jordan, Hong Kong.
Interesting, the company was named by the founder, who had worked on an Australian farm in the 1940s and has received the "Char Chan Teng" awards for many consecutive years! Due to its popularity and rather quite arrogant, its motto is "唯我獨尊 (I alone am the honored one)"! Often describe by even the locals to be an Iconic Restaurant of Hong Kong, and "a Hong Kong Instituion", the restaurant is notable for its efficient but often rude service, with a short average customer visit length of only 10 minutes. You really have to leave as soon as you finish your last bite!
Indeed, the service was quick and as soon as I finish my plate, it was taken away where the waiters are looking at me perhaps expecting me to also quickly swallow the milk tea! Its nice stuff but quite an amazing experience I almost forgotten to be the same as 15 years ago. I am not sure about the food but I give it of 7/10 but rather the experience as I too was overwhelmed from queing to get in and done with it in around 10 minutes, all in a rush of that Hong Kong style!
