Thoughts: Last visit to "Ayam Penyet Surabaya" was 16.02.2019, the signature 印尼炸鸡饭 Ayam Penyet sampled last year was a positive one! The owner uses only Ayam Kampong for all their chicken dishes. Today's visit is to sample their vegetarian dish of "Gado-Gado", which is an Indonesian salad of slightly boiled, blanched or steamed vegetables and hard-boiled eggs, boiled potato, fried tofu, long beans, (I think also some boiled carrots), served with a peanut sauce dressing and topped with crackers (keropok); nevertheless, without tempeh, and lontong (rice cake)!
"Gado-gado", in Indonesian language literally means "mix mix", though to be origin from Sudanese dish but popular across almost every part of Indonesia. Interestingly, the peanut sauce is sweet, some similarity with Satay sauce. It would have been much more appetizing if the sauce is a little bit spicy!
