@ The Japan Store at Isetan Lot 10 KL Bukit Bintang
Bukit Bintang KL
Ijima Nimono $28.28 (picture 1, 2, 3)
日本年糕 Dango Daifuku $9/pc (picture 4, 5)
Thoughts : Value for money japanese street food. Many Japanese chef are present at each of the food stalls here at Isetan Lot 10. The decoration is very classy, clean, tidy, and respectful.
Dango Daifuku which is 日本年糕, Daifuku is not the same as Mochi. Mochi is glutinous rice that is ground, steamed, and then pounded to make a sticky ball or cake and it is soft gooey when chewing. While Dango Daifuku 大福 is much tougher when biting, much like the Chinese 年糕, and made of glutinous rice as well and much stickier than Mochi (I think). Both Daifuku and Mochi comes with different fillings and I read there is also fusion Daifuku-Mochi on the rice.
My other try was "Ijima Nimono" (not sure it is correct name), but I picked up squid, scallop, snail, and more squid cost around $30 for few pieces but really very nice.
Rating: 5 / 5
