Thoughts: 15th day since the No-Mask Mandate outdoors from May 1 this month, kopitiams, cafes and restaurants are all packed with customers. The COVID-19 situation cases have been hovering around 2k+ to 3k+ daily cases since the beginning of May. Malaysia has reopened to tourism where entry requirements vary according to the visitors vaccination status. A fully vaccinated status in Malaysia means 3 doses of Sinovac or 2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna/AZ/Sputnik V/Johhson&Johnson!

Today's breakfast is at SS15's "桂生餐馆 Restoran Kwai Sun", and looks like the patrons to the koptiam has return to normal with no more social distancing requirement. The signature rm$3.30 "白咖啡冰 Ice White Coffee" is still a must at the kopitiam! But a little bit disappointed with the expensive rm$12 "素經濟米粉麵 Vegetarian Economy Beehoon" for just beehoon + mee + 3 vegetarian dishes. 

白咖啡 White Coffee is coffee roasted half of the way through and to a lower temperature. By roasting it to this much lower temperature, you get a whitish colored bean that is 咖啡因含量較高 higher in caffeine because you roast out less caffeine. This results in a 比較重堅果味 very nutty and 比較重甜味 sweet taste profile much different from traditional coffee. In Malaysia, the most famous white coffee is probably the "怡保白咖啡 Ipoh White Coffee" as unknown to many that 怡保 Ipoh was also being named one of the top three coffee towns by 孤獨星球 Lonely Planet. The origin of Ipoh White Coffee was said to have been introduced in the early 19th century by 中國移民 Chinese migrants who came to work in the local 錫礦 tin mines around 怡保 Ipoh, 霹靂州 Perak. Ipoh white coffee beans are said to be roasted in 人造奶油 margarine margarine, ground, brewed, and served with 甜煉乳 sweetened condensed milk for its whitish characteristics.

Thoughts: It is probably not as conventional to having dim sum breakfast in a Chinese Kopitiam than in a proper Dim Dum shop. But many multi-hawker stall Chinese kopitiam usually will have one little kiosk/stall offering Dim Sum plates. SS15's 桂生餐館 Kwai Sun Kopitiam offers rm$5 Dim Sum plates and quite popular among customers who come here for hawker food and ordering one or two extra plates of Dim Sum. In general, did liked the rm$5 "釀日本豆腐 Japanese Tofu dim sum". Another popular choice at Kwai Sun is the 香港蝦腸 Hong Kong style Har Cheong which has been in the kopitiam for many years and that is always made fresh and worth sampling.

A multi-stall hawker Kopitiam that offers Dim Sum stall that is definitely worth visiting is in Puchong's Taman Putra Impiana. The kiosk called 好運點心 Good Luck Dim Sum in 2發美食中心 Restoran Yee Huat Food Court offering rm$4.80 dim sum plates are highly recommended.
