蜂蜜酒 Wamssler MEAD @ Subang Parade SS16

11.12.2016 Wine Tasting
Subang Parade
5, Jalan Kemajuan Subang, SS16, 47500 Subang Jaya
Review: I was told you cannot find this wine sold anywhere in the country. It's a German 'Honey Wine". The Trio travels around the country and after January, their next stop will be in Penang. They are now at Subang Parade's Main Court (in front of Parkson) from now until early January next year.
"MEAD" 蜂蜜酒. Mead is not an abbreviation, Wikipedia says MEAD is an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, or grains. The alcoholic content ranges from about 8% to more than 20%. The one I tasted called "Wamssler Mead semi-dry" was 9%. The defining characteristic of mead is that the majority of the beverage's fermentable sugar is derived from honey. It may be still, carbonated, or naturally sparkling; dry, semi-sweet, or sweet.
The history of MEAD 蜂蜜酒 goes back to 7000 years ago, to the times of the Vikings. MEAN of Honey Wine is said to be the earliest known form of alcoholic beverage. The history of this wine is really quite unique and often called the "Elixir of Youth, the drink of love"1 MEAD 蜂蜜酒 is rich in anti-oxidant properties and traditionally home-made in European countries. MEAD 蜂蜜酒 is still rare until the Wamssler family brought this "legend of the Medieval Age" into the 21st century.
