Pic9&10: Cow Cheese
Thoughts: Gahwat Haji is a famous eating place in Manama, opens very early daily at 6:30am until 10:00pm at night. It still retains its old charm with traditional "high" bench seats. Likely one of those Gems still remaining in the ever changing scenes of Manama due to the past 10 years of heavy activities of development.
I had 2 of those Arab Tea with milk, I still find it without sugar is the best way to drink Arab Tea.
Balaleet with Egg was cool, the Balaleet was like fried vermicelli/meehoon except it is sweet. Al Ezzel guys show me how to eat it with the Arab Bread and dip in into the yogurt! fantastic combinations, I must say. The best meal I had in Bahrain, too bad it is the last day. Googling it says the the Balaleet is Indian influence! Served as a breakfast dish and also for dessert, this Indian-influenced sweet pasta is fried and topped with a saffron omelette, making it crunchy, sweet, tender, and savory all at once. It is usually served for breakfast or dessert.
Each of us had a bowl of yogurt, very fresh and certainly perhaps important in this part of the world to cool down the heat and hot spices in the meals. Just dipping the Arab bread with the yogurt itself is wonderful. And there is this home made cow cheese, goes with the Arab bread and dipping on the yogurt.
The whole concoction of breakfast combination is a wonderful surprise, the traditional cuisine of Bahrain was certainly beautifully prepared and served this morning!
