巴林的旧市场 Souq (Old Market) of Manama, Bahrain

03.03.2017 a walk in the Souq (Old Market)
Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain
Thoughts: Nothing better than a personal tour of the Souq (Old Market) of Manama by the guys from the Power Plant. This place is the Old Bazaar (called Souq) of Bahrain, in the capital of Manama. Beyond those post modern arch
itectures, a slide detour brings to the Souq. I like charms of old parts of the cities like this! Too bad at around 8-9am, shops are still opening and not too many customers, I am sure on festive days of Ramadan will be very beautiful street activities here.
Second picture is a must eat sweet dessert called Halwa (or Halva) which is a very dense and sweet dessert. The guys bought me a big can! I tried both the red and green one, interesting must eat dessert in Bahrain.
The small lanes housing small shops each side within the Souq is like a maze; selling all kinds of thins, from clothing, toys, kitchenware, household items, food, drinks, spices etc. The guys were so afraid of me snapping away street scenes with my phone! LOL!
The little shops leads many mosque which some of them care called Matam. I think Matam is similar to Mosque, and there are so many within close proximity just inside the Souq. All of them beautiful Islamic architectures.
An unforgettable experience on the old streets of Bahrain !
