AND today, besides 拿鐵 Latte, it is a rm$10 "大理石黃油蛋糕 Marble butter Cake" and you can always request Barista to warm it for you.
大理石黃油蛋糕 Marble butter cake is a combination of traditional 黃油蛋糕 butter cake (king of the 英式磅蛋糕 English pound cake) and 巧克力奶油蛋糕 chocolate butter cake. The idea of the marble cake (which is the idea of marbling two different colored batters into a cake originated in nineteenth-century Germany) seems to have originated in 十九世紀初的德國 early nineteenth century Germany; The earliest version of marble cake consisted of a "Kugelhopf" (甜酵母麵包 sweet yeast bread), one half of which was colored with 糖蜜 molasses and 香料 spices to achieve a dark colored batter. That German style Marble cake made its way to America with German immigrants before the American Civil War (1861 - 1865). In 1889, a recipe appeared in a popular cookbook that took advantage of Americans’ 對巧克力的痴迷 obsession with chocolate and replaced molasses with chocolate. Thus, the popular marble cake that we know about today was born.
