Thoughts: Launched in April 2019, 鬼仔巷 Kwai Chai Hong is now known as one of the most Instagram-able spot in KL. The little lane with maybe 10 pre-war old shops is Lorong Panggung, and even before 2019; when 何九老店 Ho Kow was still here, this is one of the best spot for a cup of black coffee as early as 7am. 何九老店 has been here since the 1950s, and it has now operating in a pre-war shop log as "何九海南茶店 Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam" to Jalan Balai Polis after Lorong Panggung was restored.
"鬼仔巷 Kwai Chai Hong" was the effort of a few friends who got together to restore and rejuvenate this heritage little back alley so that visitors can re-live a part of KL Chinatown in the old glory days. The shophouses in this lane were restored and now the area is surrounded by interesting ambiance curated by cafes, restaurants and bars. Will need to find another day to explore this nostalgic lane next time and also to visit the new Ho Kow at Jalan Balai.
