BUT on the same road, without all the crowd and noise; a short walking distance from the busy spots of Lebuh Chulia is this little pub "香港酒吧 Hong Kong Bar", a decent place with nice, friendly and accommodating owners, This little detail and their beer selection make this place special as Jenny decorates her little pub with lots of old military photos and memorabilia from the pasts including old military photos.

There are no Neon Lights here, no big Crowds here, no Food here, and no Life Band here, only Jenny taking your order, and a quiet Pub with the settings of a blast from the Past, guarantee to bring the Nostalgia feeling of the old Penang for a quiet evening of a Beer to two to kill some time before going back to the hotel.
In the 1920's and 30s, around the times before Word War II, Lebuh Chulia (or formerly Chulia Street) and even Campbell Street are notoriously known to be the RED Light Districts in Georgetown AND in fact at dark corners at front of shop lots on certain parts of Lebuh Chulia can still find sociliting prostitutes. In fact, brothels are common establishments from late 19th century to the 20th century and even during the Japanese occupation; and not only along Chulia Street, but Kuala Kangsar Road, Kampung Malabar, Cintra Street, all the way to Campbell Road and even Ropewalk Street which is before the now Komtar area.
For already more than 100 years, "香港酒吧 Hong Kong Bar" has been at the same colonial shop lot since the 1920s! In the heydays, the Bar is the official hangout place for sailors and military personnel from the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) who were stationed in Penang Island. That's the reason why the walls are adorned with military photos and memorabilia from this ear. For senior Penangites, walking into this Pub will definitely bring back memories from the past, especially the World War II and the British colony period.
