Thoughts: Opened in 7 June 2021, replacing previous tenant "淋面屋小捞王 Lam Mee Ya Xiao Lao Wang" is the 2nd Outlet of "大茶店 Dai Cha Dim" in USJ1's Damen Mall. And the Hong Kong style "Char Chan Teng" 1st Outlet is at 吉隆坡武吉免登 KL Bukit Bintang's 柏威年廣場 Pavilion Mall at Level 6 which was opened sometime in October or November 2018.
"大茶店 Dai Cha Dim" offers 燒臘 Hong Kong style "Siu Lap (Roasted)" that goes with Noodles and Rice, also in the menu are Hong Kong style 碟頭/仔飯 Dip-Tau/Zai Fan and 蒸飯類 Steamed Rice items. Plus selected 點心盤 Dim Sum plates and the popular 菠蘿包 Polo Buns, and Frozen 點心 Dim Sum are also available.
Today's lunch, first the rm$5 "絲襪奶茶 Hong Kong Xi-Mut Milk Tea" was commendable. Instead of their advertised 10 Favorites, ordered the rm$13.80 "叉燒豬油渣撈飯 Steamed rice with "Charsiew" plus Pork Lard" which came with 叉燒 Charsiew, some 豬油渣 crunchy pork lard, a 煎雞蛋 fried egg with some vegetables on 白米 white rice. The 叉燒 Charsiew wasn't as juicy and tender as its next door competitor "陳明記燒臘 Restoran Chan Meng Kee". But still, it is a reasonable concoction!
Fun Facts: 茶餐體 Cha-Chaan-Teng (or 港式咖啡館 Hong Kong style Café) is truly an iconic Hong Kong food experience and it is what most 香港人 HongKongers go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 港式茶餐室 Hong Kong Char Chan Teng usually offers a good variety of eclectic such as "午餐肉通心粉湯 Macaroni Soup with Luncheon Meat" but usually affordable menus, which include not just dishes from Hong Kong cuisine like "細蓉 Shai Yong" and Hong Kong-style Western cuisine like "芝士焗飯 Cheese Baked Rice". It is similar in popularity in Hong Kong to 馬來西亞華人咖啡館 Chinese Kopitiam in Malaysia, but HK茶餐體 is run by a single Boss while most of our Kopitiam houses hawker stalls rented out to individuals.
香港文化 Hong Kong culture was very much influenced by 英国文化 British culture due the 英国殖民 British colonization for over 150 years. As an example, while the British rarely add milk to their Tea, but Hong Kong people started to add milk to Tea resulting in the 香港絲襪奶茶 Hong Kong Xi-Mut Milk Tea. BUT even after the World War II until 1970s, deprivation and poverty are still widespread in Hong Kong, with many people unable to afford customary items and activities like going into a Western Restaurant. Therefore, some Hongkongers set up 茶餐廳 Cha Chaan Tengs that targeted at the local people as a more affordable place than typical 典型西餐廳 Western Restaurants. So, in the 1950s and 60s, 茶餐廳 Cha Chaan Tengs sprang up as rising lower class incomes made such "western food" affordable, then it was called "冰室 Bing Sutt" or  "豉油西餐 Soy Sauce Western Restaurants" which started in GaungZhou (maybe in the 1920's and 30s) and later Hong Kong. The 50's and 60s Hong Kong "冰室 Bing Sutt" then only offered 小食牌照 "Snacks Business License" and at that time buildings in Hong Kong comes with high ceilings, and ceiling fans for cooling. And they serve 紅豆冰red bean ice, 咖啡 coffee, 奶茶 milk tea, 冰淇淋 ice cream, 西式飲品 western beverages, and 糕点 pastries; 以 "飲冰" 為賣點 with Ice or Cold drinks as the selling point, hence they are called "冰室 Bing Sutt". In Hong Kong today, there are are still many "冰室 Bing Sutt" or a more common name as "茶餐廳 Cha Chaan Teng" which offers extensive choice of food and drinks (western, local, and fusion) to satisfy the high demand of affordable and fast Hong Kong-style western food.
The Cha Chaan Teng provides different kinds of 粵西美食 Canto-Western Cuisine and drinks with very low price led to them being regarded as "便宜西餐 cheap western food", or what Hongkongers referred it as "豉油西餐 SoySauce Western Food".
The food culture of 茶餐廳 Cha Chaan Teng has been ingrained in the lives of Hongkongers for so many years. And in June 2014, a number of famous dishes in 茶餐廳 Cha Chaan Teng namely 絲襪奶茶 Xi-Mut milk tea, 鴛鴦 YuenYeung, 菠蘿包 Pineapple Bun, and 蛋撻 Egg Tart were enlisted into the first 香港非物質文化遺產名錄 Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory of Hong Kong. Of course, a typical 茶餐廳 Cha Chaan Teng offer much much more then the above few items. And today, 茶餐廳 Cha Chaan Tengs are very common Goto Place for Food and Drinks for Cantonese people in 香港 Hong Kong, 澳門 Macau, and 廣州 Guong Zhou.
