Thoughts: The 1980s to early 2000 was probably the most prosperous period in the City of KL and is also the booming period for big and loud nightclubs, and of course Discos in the nation's capital city. Pudu (Chinese: 富都, alt. 半山芭) is a part of the 老吉隆坡 OLD Kuala Lumpur that houses 富都中環車站 Pudu Sentral (Kuala Lumpur's oldest bus station) and formerly 半山芭監獄 Pudu Prison, as well as one of the largest wet markets called the 半山芭菜市場 Pudu Market (Malay: Pasar Besar Pudu). Jalan Pasar area is know as the shopping hub for 電氣/電子 electrical/electronics goods and with many shops here doing the same business, some people also call it the 吉隆坡電子街 Electronics Street of KL. At that time, the "富都廣場 Pudu" Plaza is a popular neighborhood Mall and especially the the Nostalgic "香港商店 Hong Kong Store" from the 70s. The Store is especially super busy during festivities and the popular go-to place for Shopping Chinese New Year goods and soft-drinks.

In 1988, 發哥 Fatt Kor and his wife 發嫂 Fatt Soh established their road side store "發記燒臘 Fatt Kee Siew Lap" and it is just opposite the "香港商店 Hong Kong Store"! AND I believe I have sampled their excellent 燒鴨腿叉燒飯 Roasted Duck and Roasted Pork 6+ years ago on November 15. 2016. In the 3rd generation now; other than the Pudu "HQ", the family operated Siew Lap shops can be found in 蕉賴 Cheras, 大城堡 Sri Petaling, and Bandar Puteri.
The "發記燒臘飯店 Fatt Kee Roast Duck & Chicken Rice Shop" offers 燒雞 Roasted chicken, 燒鴨 Roasted duck, 燒肉 Siew Yoke, and 叉燒 Charsiew. Here, in the Bandar Puteri branch also offers 鴨腳 Duck feet, 雞腳 Chicken feet, and 豬皮 Pig skin. The Roasted items comes with Single Roasted dishes as well as Twin Roasted dishes with 米飯 Rice or 雲吞麵 Wanton Mee, from rm$10.90 to rm$23.90.
Today's late lunch at 2pm is a rm$16.90 "燒鴨叉燒配白飯 Roasted duck & Charsiew w/ White rice" which comes in quite small portion of roasted items; too bad the more bones than meat than meat in the Roasted duck portion AND the sweet caramelized Charsiew was interesting! The plate of roasted item also comes with some 黃瓜 cucumber and even 花生 nuts, topped with 蔥花 and duck sauce. Unfortunately at 2pm today, 燒肉 Siew Yoke was sold out; otherwise the pricey rm$22.90 (Rice) or rm$23.90 (Noodle) 燒鴨腿 Roasted duck drumstick and 燒肉 Roasted Pork Belly would be a yummier choice!
