Traditional Toast
"唐人街茶室 New Nanyang Food Street" is now almost vacant, with only 2 of the 12 stalls are with tenants. This non-Halal section was popular porky place before the Pandemic with 燒臘 Siew Lap, 肉骨茶 Bak Kut Teh, and 福建麵 Hokkien Mee etc., but now only 辣椒板麵 Chili Pan Mee and 單眼佬涼茶 Tan Ngan Lo Herbal Tea are still standing. BUT part of this non-Halal section is preparing for a new eatery which will be offering Taiwanese street food like 餃子 Dumplings, 排骨飯 Pork rib rice etc. and set to be ready for dine-in on the 18th March this month. 
Traditional Toast is a kiosk in the Halal section inside "Food Arcade".  
Today's 半熟蛋 half-boiled eggs recipe makes the classic kopitiam eggs tailor-made for having with 咖椰黃油吐司 kaya and/butter toast and best to go with a cup of 厚咖啡 Kopi Gao (or Milk Tea) served in a thick porcelain vintage kopitiam cup; the combination is something that is uniquely found only in a Singaporean or Malaysian coffee shops and comfort food which transcends across the multi-racial society of these 2 countries. 
Fun Facts: BUT surprising that what is thought to be our very own "dipping strips of toasts into runny eggs" possibly isn't a Malaysia or Singapore thing! Soft-boiled eggs with Toast is actually a classic 英式早餐 English breakfast and it is actually called "Dippy Eggs with Soldiers or just Eggs and Soldiers", originated in the 英國 UK and is still popular today as a children's breakfast, but British adults love them, too! In fact, the specific term "雞蛋與士兵 Eggs with Soldiers" appears to date from the 1960s. And it is possible that it was either popularized or invented in 1965 in a series of TV commercials for eggs called "Go to work on an egg" which was an advertising slogan used by the United Kingdom's Egg Marketing starring Tony Hancock and Patricia Hayes. That interesting name of "士兵 Soldiers" is a British term that refers to a piece of toast cut into thin strips reminiscent of the formation of soldiers on a parade. The toast is sliced in this manner so that it can be dipped into the opening of a soft boiled egg that has had the top of its shell removed. Another interesting belief for the origin of the name is from the 兒歌 childhood rhyme “蛋頭先生 Humpty Dumpty”. The bread refers to the soldiers who went to rescue Humpty Dumpty (Egg) when he had his “Great Fall”!
