Thoughts: "Au Bon Pain" seems an unlikely name for a Bakery, odd as its name seems; the Bakery is one that proposes its bakes to be as less "Trans Fat" as possible. (the bakery's "almost" Zero Trans Fat policy in its breads!). Natural Trans Fat are natural occurring in milk and goat meat and not as harmful when consume in moderation while excessive use of Artificial Trans Fat are found to increase bad "LDL" cholesterol while reducing the good "HDL" cholesterol! The reason artificial Trans Fats are used in food and bakery production is for increasing the food shelf life as well as preventing musty odors, coupled with lower costs of production.
So, the bagel (that looks to be pink color inside) I am having for dinner must be healthier than the usual one's! It's rm$23+ for the heart-shaped bagel (pricey), the beetroot bagel (beetroot was the culprit for the pink colored bagel) was sandwiched with Smoked Salmon with Feta Cheese. Interesting!
As Pietra Hotel is on the other side of Ratchadaphisek road (a busy 6 lane high way or major trunk road in Bangkok with vehicles day and night), there are overhead bridges on different parts of this road for pedestrian crossing. Ratchadaphisek road combines with other roads (build in the 1970s) to form a "Ring Road" in the city of Bangkok and MRT Blue Line subway line was build in the mid 2000s along the undergrounds of the Ring Road; hence one can by many Blue Line (BL) subway stations along Ratchadaphisek road.
So, to reach "Au Bon Pain" from Pietra Hotel, one has to take the overhead bridge just in-front of Muang Thai Phatra Complex (not far from Sutthisan MRT station). And on this part of the trunk road, I believe there are more apartments, some chinese restaurants, and of course next to the 24 hours McDonald's is "Au Bon Pain"! maybe McD tomorrow for breakfast unless something interesting can be found at the Muang Thai - Phatra Market on the Sunday morning!
