黑福建面 Hokkien Mee $12.90
Thoughts: The main shop is at China Town, tried it last month. Very few Hokkien mee cooked with 炭烧 Charcoal. From the window collecting my plate, I can see the chef (one Chinese, two foreigners replacing the wok bottom with charcoal).
A man queuing behind me jokingly said, this Hokkien mee once a year is enough. He said he does not know if any other places in town still uses Charcoal to fry Hokkien mee but its very not healthy. The man was likely my age, Lol
Hokkien mee KL style is black sauce all the way, with pork lard, salty, oily, with the thick mee. Yes, everything sounds bad to anyone who has cholesterol or blood pressure.
Googled found 1 plate of single serving Hokkine Mee is around 800 calories, high on sodium, cholesterol, carbohydrate, and fat. Definitely not good for the heart.
