Thoughts: Opened on May 1 Friday (yesterday) this week, with their 17th branch in Klang Valley. Dáo Desserts (meaning "soy" or "bean" 豆 in Cantonese pronunciation) was established in 2018 by three siblings Carmen, Joe, and Kelly Lau to bring their family's traditional Ipoh soy-based dessert recipe to a wider audience, starting in the Klang Valley. The brand is built on the foundation of their father’s 30-year legacy as the owner of "旺記豆花 Woong Kee Beancurd" in Ipoh, featuring traditional 豆腐花 tau fu fah (soy beancurd) and 豆奶 soy milk in a modern café setting, their first shop is at 20, Jalan SS 15/4B.

Tofufa, also known as 豆花 douhua, 豆腐花 doufuhua, or tau foo fah, originated in China over 2,000 years ago, with records dating back to the Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD). Earliest records in China refer to it as 豆腐脑 dòufunǎo, or "tofu brains" due to its extremely soft, delicate texture. And in many cities in China (especially the Northern part of the country), the white dessert is still sold with the name of 豆腐脑 dòufunǎo, or "tofu brain"!
