Jalan Perak, 50450 Kuala Lumpur
马来椰浆饭加蛋加鱿鱼 Nasi Lemak w/Egg+Sotong $4
Review: 6 / 10 👍😋
Highlights: Take-away, Friendly Malay couple
Thoughts: When our office moved to Menara Antarabangsa around early 2000, back in the days when I was still 30's something; I had a lot of Nasi Lemak from this little road side store managed by a middle aged "very very nice" malay couple. The Nasi Lemak stall is at the back of Wisma Antarabangsa facing Jalan Perak.
The stall is still in operation, it has shifted a little bit (few meters) here and there around the same area of Jalan Perak and now it is just in front of Menara Perak or at the "Jalan Perak" exit of the Petronas 1 km pedestrian bridge. Her husband is still driving Taxi but helping out to setup the stall in the morning as well, he is now on the "One Malaysia" Taxi Scheme.
The price of Egg+Sotong nasi lemak used to be around $3 but only recently increase a little bit. It is not easy for them as business on the street here is only about 3 hours and they do get "Summons" by DBKL once in awhile where their weeks earnings is just gone like that.
There are quite a few road side Nasi Lemak vendors around this area; this one on Jalan Perak (in front of Manara Perak), another one on Jalan Pinang (in front of Wisma UOA2 facing Aquaria), then there is 2 more on Jalan Kia Ping (in front of Wisma HLA), not forgetting 2 more on Jalan Raja Chulan (in front of Wisma Cosway). It is definitely not easy for these honest vendors making a living on the "punishing" street of KL. Within close proximity, there are usually many Nasi Lemak setups nearby; with competition among their peers as well as food courts in many of the nearby building offices; it is definitely hard life.
Most people tapao their packets of food from these vendors and end up eating at their office pantry or nearby food courts; I usually had mine at Suria food court at the basement of Wisma UOA2, with a Teh Tarik. Ample seating here early in the morning.
Opening Hours: 06:30am - 09:30pm
