Thoughts: Located deep in the Industrial shops lots in USJ1, almost next to Klang river that splits USJ and Puchong; "藤原豆腐食店 Fujiwara Tofu Shop" is an interesting Japanese restaurant created and managed by young Malaysians. This Tofu shop is a Japanese restaurant/Café built to pay tribute to actual Shop called "藤原とうふ茶店 Fujiwara Tofu Café" where the popular "頭文字 D Initial D" Movie took place in Gunma Prefecture (群馬県) about 110km or 2 hours drive from Tokyo to North West of Tokyo.
"イニシャル D Initial D" is a popular Japanese street racing manga that has garnered a lot of fans from all over the world. Although the original Fujiwara Tofu Store in Japan only offers merchandise and car accessories, this Malaysian outlet will feature a café where patrons can chill and drink, and also indulge in tofu delicacies! "頭文字 D Initial D" was originally a Japanese street racing 漫畫系列 Manga series written and illustrated by 重野秀一 Shuichi Shigeno. The Manga series ran for 18 years from 1995 to 2013. The Subang Jaya location shop started operation early 2021 amidst the Pandemic. Takumi Fujiwara's car in "Initial D", 豐田AE86 Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 is featured inside the shop, along with the "initial D's Memorabilia at the ground floor. At the entrance, customer is greeted with what looks like a life-sized figure of 拓海藤原 Takumi Fujiwara albeit wearing Malay traditional costume! There are also Scales Models of the " Initial D Fujiwara Tofu Shop Diorama" at the entrance at the ground floor as well as the second floor. The second floor's walls are also adorned with the Initial D Manga Wallpapers. Fans of Initial D can also race their friends at the cafe’s arcade machines at the ground floor placed next to the Toyota AE86. The USJ1 藤原 Fujiwara only opens 3 days in a week from Friday to Sunday, Mains are 11 choices of either Rice, Udon and Pasta dishes (Terriyaki chicken, Unagi, Karaage, Sabah Fish, Salmon, Japanese curry etc) from rm$19.90 to rm$33.90. Also available are local beers in bottles as well as buckets to go with beer bites such as 餃子 gyoza, 炸雞塊 chicken karaage, and 軟殼蟹 soft shell crab.
Lunch today is the shops signature rm$19 "黑豆腐和海鮮豆腐 Black & Seafood Tofu", the must try Signature Japanese Black Tofu is made with charcoal, showing off a black exterior crispy outside and soft creamy gray fillings inside; perhaps just like fictional tofu shop in the Manga series. And this is not the 中國臭豆腐 Chinese Black stinky tofu! On the side is a plate of garlic chili sauce, the combination should go well with a bottle of cold beer.
